The deadline for employers to submit gender pay gap data has been extended until October 5, 2021. All companies with more than 250 employees are required to upload their data to the Gender Pay Gap Service, a government website and searchable database, as well as self-publish the data on their own public websites.
Some companies may notice a significant change in this year’s report due to a larger number of furloughed employees compared to a normal year. While furloughed employees are to be counted when determining a company’s total number of employees, furloughed employees should not be included in hourly pay calculations if furlough pay from the company did not exceed the government grant.
Takeaway: The government will not be investigating data reporting compliance until the October deadline. For details on current requirements, consult the UK government’s guide to 2021 reporting.
