Singapore’s Minister of Manpower recently outlined four key tenets of the government’s strategy to support women entering, participating and advancing in the workforce with a focus on ensuring equal pay and opportunities.
The first tenet outlines facilitating women’s access to employment through national employment programs and services. The second looks at creating flexible work arrangements and other work-life enhancing strategies. Third, the government hopes to shift societal norms about women outside of work by promoting the sharing of caregiving responsibilities to allow women greater career flexibility. The last tenet focuses on ensuring a fair, safe and progressive working environment for women.
