Indians claim roughly 74 percent of the 85,000 H1-B visas issued annually by the US. So while the US’ recent ban on H1-B visas through 2020 will impact workforce demand, some claim that demand for skills will likely outweigh visa restrictions, particularly as they relate to onsite work requirements.
According to Sundeep Kumar Makthala, global president of the Telangana Information Technology Association, talent with the right skills remain in demand. Even though workers may not be able to travel to the US to work, the country remains an offshore resource destination, and jobs requiring critical skills may be outsourced to Indian companies.
Takeaway: Outsourcing services remains a viable path to talent with in-demand skills. Companies around the world have an opportunity to better manage those services just as they manage contingent workforce spend through their MSPs. AGS provides such strategy, insight, and technology through its procurement solutions to help organizations track and optimize procurement spend across the enterprise.
